Yacht and boat rental in Georgia

From yacht outings off Batumi to boat rides on Georgia’s rivers and lakes: find the right stretch of the Black Sea coast or an inland trip before you choose an operator.

GetnDrive currently has no yacht or boat rental offers in Georgia.

The Black Sea coast

Sea: Batumi and the coast

Batumi is the main place for yacht and boat trips at sea. The rest of the coast is first of all a beach destination: whether a boat leaves from a particular resort depends on the individual operator.

Batumi

Georgia’s best-known seaside city and the capital of Adjara. Yacht outings, motorboat trips and sea walks along the city coast are the most familiar way to spend time on the water here, above all in summer: from a short sunset outing to a longer private trip.

Good for
A first trip at sea, a sunset outing, a family or a group of friends who want a private boat with a crew.

Coast of Adjara

South of Batumi, Gonio, Kvariati and Sarpi lie on the way to the Turkish border; Kvariati and Sarpi are known for their clear water. To the north are Makhinjauri, Chakvi, Tsikhisdziri and Kobuleti with its wide pebble beach. These are places to stay and swim; boat trips are not a given in each of them.

Good for
Travellers staying outside Batumi who want a quieter beach and may make a separate trip for time at sea.

Guria and Samegrelo coast

North of Adjara, Ureki, Shekvetili and Grigoleti in Guria are known for their dark magnetic sand, and Anaklia in Samegrelo lies on the Enguri river. This stretch is mainly about beach holidays; plan any trip at sea with a specific operator.

Good for
A family beach holiday with an occasional outing, if an operator offers one.

Inland water

Rivers and lakes

Away from the sea, time on the water means sightseeing river trips in Tbilisi, boat rides at protected natural sites in western Georgia and active rafting and kayaking north of Tbilisi. Most are excursions run on site, not boat rental.

Tbilisi: the Mtkvari and the Tbilisi Sea

The Mtkvari (Kura) runs through the centre of Tbilisi, and sightseeing trips on the river pass the old districts, including rides on a modernised traditional raft, the tivi. The Tbilisi Reservoir, known as the Tbilisi Sea, in the north-east of the city, is a separate outing: a lake for sailing and a day by the water in summer. It is a drinking-water reservoir, and boats with combustion engines are not allowed on it.

Good for
A short trip during a city break; a day by the lake on a hot day.
Check locally
Where the river trip starts, how long it lasts and whether it runs in your season; at the reservoir, what is open on the day.

Kutaisi and trips from the city

Two well-known water excursions lie outside Kutaisi. In Martvili Canyon, about 45 km from the city, visitors can take a short boat ride along the Abasha river; it depends on the weather. The route through the Prometheus Cave near Kumistavi (Tskaltubo municipality) can end with a boat ride on the underground river, depending on the season and conditions. Both are visitor excursions run at the sites, not yacht or boat rental.

Good for
A day trip from Kutaisi for families and groups who want an easy ride with a guide; in Martvili, children must be taller than 1 metre to board.
Check locally

Poti and Kolkheti National Park

Next to Poti, Kolkheti National Park takes in Paliastomi Lake and the wetlands around it. The park runs boat tours on the lake and towards the Pichori river by pontoon or motorboat, as well as kayak tours and birdwatching. Tours are booked in advance and depend on the weather.

Good for
Nature lovers, birdwatchers and anyone who prefers calm water to the open sea.

The Aragvi and the Zhinvali Reservoir

North of Tbilisi, the Aragvi flows into the Zhinvali Reservoir by the Ananuri fortress, about 60 km from the capital. The reservoir supplies Tbilisi with drinking water: boats with combustion engines are not allowed on it, and swimming only at designated places.

Good for
Active trips: rafting on the Aragvi or kayaking with a local operator, mostly from spring to mid-autumn. Calm trips: a stop at Ananuri for the view of the reservoir.
Check locally

Yacht, boat, excursion or active trip

The words sound alike, but these are different trips with different conditions. This is a guide to formats, not a list of available GetnDrive boats.

Three people in a small open motorboat at sea, with a city and mountains on the shore

Yacht outing with a crew

A private trip on a motor or sailing yacht with a captain who handles the boat and the route. You agree the time at sea, the stops and what is included.

Motorboat trip

A shorter, faster outing on a smaller boat, usually with a skipper. A boat without a captain is a different arrangement: it depends on the operator’s terms and the licence they require.

Group excursion

A ride with other visitors, such as a sightseeing trip on the Mtkvari in Tbilisi or the boat sections of Martvili Canyon and Prometheus Cave. You buy a place, not the boat.

Active water trip

Rafting or kayaking with a guide, for example on the Aragvi. Fitness, age limits and safety briefing matter more than the boat itself.

Catamarans and other boat types are possible only where an operator actually offers them: ask before you plan around one.

Before you go

What to agree with the operator

Confirm these with the specific operator or the site administration: GetnDrive does not set or guarantee these conditions.

Departure point

The exact place where you board, how to get there and when to arrive. A city name alone does not say where the boat leaves from.

Duration

Time on the water, time for stops and the return point. Treat a sample route as a plan, not a promise.

Group

How many people the boat or the excursion takes, whether children are allowed and from what age.

Crew

Whether a captain or guide is included, who steers, and what is required if you want to steer yourself.

Route

Where the trip goes and which stops are possible on the day, at sea, on the river or on the lake.

Weather

Who decides whether the trip goes ahead in wind, waves, rain or high water, and when you will hear about it.

Safety

Life jackets for every passenger, including children’s sizes, a safety briefing and other equipment on board.

Payment and cancellation

What the price includes, how and when you pay, and what happens if you or the operator cancel or the weather changes.

The essentials

Frequently asked questions

Can I book a yacht or a boat in Georgia through GetnDrive?

Not yet. GetnDrive currently has no yacht or boat offers in Georgia, so this page has no fleet, prices, calendar or booking.

Sea or rivers and lakes: which should I choose?

For a yacht or motorboat trip at sea, look at Batumi. For a calm excursion, consider a river trip in Tbilisi or the boat rides at Martvili Canyon, Prometheus Cave or Paliastomi Lake; for something active, rafting on the Aragvi.

Is a boat ride in Martvili Canyon the same as renting a boat?

No. It is a visitor excursion at the site: you join a ride on the boats used there. The same goes for the underground boat section of the Prometheus Cave.

Are Martvili Canyon and the Prometheus Cave in Kutaisi?

No. Both lie outside the city: the canyon about 45 km away in Martvili municipality, the cave near Kumistavi in Tskaltubo municipality, northwest of Kutaisi. Plan the transfer from Kutaisi separately.

What is the difference between a yacht outing and a motorboat trip?

A yacht outing is usually a longer private trip with a crew and room on board; a motorboat trip is shorter and faster on a smaller boat. What is included depends on the operator.

Can I rent a boat without a captain?

Only where an operator offers this and you meet its conditions, which may include a licence. Do not assume that a boat comes without a crew, or that a crewed trip can be self-driven.

Where do boats depart from?

From the place the operator or the site names for your trip. GetnDrive does not list piers or boarding points; ask for the exact address and arrival time.

What if the weather changes?

At sea, wind and waves decide; on rivers, the water level. Ask in advance who makes the call, how you will be told and whether you can move the trip or get your money back.

What should I check about safety?

Life jackets for everyone, including children, a safety briefing, the number of people on board and, for rafting or kayaking, the guide’s experience and the age and fitness limits.

How are payment and cancellation handled?

By the operator or the site. Before paying, ask what the price includes, when payment is due and what the cancellation terms are.

How can I list my boats or trips on GetnDrive?

Open the application on the partner page, select “Yachts” or “Boats” and tell us about your business, vessels and trip formats. Listing offers requires a separate review.
