Choose your destination, vehicle type and rental times — from cities and the coast to mountain roads.
Arrival cities in the east and west, the Black Sea coast and three mountain resorts. Select a place on the map or in the list to open its page.
Georgia is a compact country with very different regions: the capital in the east, the Black Sea coast in the west and the Greater Caucasus mountains along the north.
Arrival cities
Tbilisi, the capital, is the natural start for trips around eastern Georgia. Kutaisi, the main city of the Imereti region, opens up the west. Both have international airports.
By the sea
Batumi is the largest city on Georgia’s Black Sea coast and has its own international airport. Kobuleti is a beach resort a little further north along the same coast.
In the mountains
Gudauri lies on the Georgian Military Road north of Tbilisi, Bakuriani is a mountain resort near Borjomi, and Mestia is the main town of Upper Svaneti in the north-west.
Where you collect the vehicle matters as much as where you are going.
Arriving by air
Flying into Tbilisi, Kutaisi or Batumi? A pick-up point in the city may still be a ride away from the airport. Check the exact address in the offer’s terms and whether airport pick-up is available.
Resorts
For Kobuleti, Gudauri, Bakuriani or Mestia, the pick-up place can be in a nearby city. Every offer will name its own pick-up place.
Return
Check where and when the company expects the vehicle back, and whether the offer allows a return in another city.
Mountain roads
Snow can affect mountain roads, including the road to Gudauri. Check road conditions before you set off and ask the company about winter equipment.
A short guide for visitors. These are the general rules: they differ for Georgian citizens and in some special cases, and the rental company may ask for more — check official sources and the offer’s terms before you travel.
National licence
If you are not a Georgian citizen, you may generally drive in Georgia on a licence issued by another country until it expires, but for no longer than one year from your last entry into Georgia.
Category
Your licence must cover the category of the vehicle you drive. Carry it with you and show it when asked.
Translation
If your licence is not written in Latin or Georgian letters, also carry a certified translation of it.
This is general information, not legal advice. Rules can change: before your trip, check the current requirements with official sources and the rental company.
In Georgia the search currently covers cars. Motorbikes and water transport are not yet available in the Georgian search, so the vehicle type field shows only what can be searched today.
Choose the vehicle type, a destination and the pick-up and return dates and times, then search. You land on the destination’s page, where the form and the results keep your choices.
Tbilisi and Kutaisi, Batumi and Kobuleti on the coast, and Gudauri, Bakuriani and Mestia in the mountains.
Results show only offers that local rental companies have published for your dates. When there are none, the search says so plainly — try other dates or another destination.
Generally yes, if you are not a Georgian citizen: a licence issued by another country can be used until it expires, but for no longer than one year from your last entry into Georgia, and it must cover the category you drive. Check official sources before you travel.
Only if your licence is not written in Latin or Georgian letters: then carry a certified translation of it. The rental company may ask for other documents too, such as an International Driving Permit — check the offer’s terms.
Each offer will name its pick-up place. For a resort it may be in another town; airport pick-up is possible only if the offer includes it.
The return place and time will be set by the specific offer. Your return date and time stay in the search, so you can compare them with the offer.
GetnDrive does not take the rental payment: you pay the rental company directly on its terms. Each offer will state the price, any deposit and the payment method.
When local rental companies publish offers in Georgia, the price will be shown per day in Georgian lari (GEL), as set by the company, without conversion.
Trips between regions depend on the rental company’s rules — check the offer for any limits on area or mileage. In winter, check mountain road conditions before you go.
